I had the pleasure and honor of participating in a pattern test group this week for Duck Butt Designs, sewing a Pocket Panel Romper. A lot of new sewing skills for me: sewing with knits – new and upcycled, binding, snaps, gross grain ribbon as a stabilizer, lined hood.
First round I used mommy and daddy’s old tshirts. It was advised to not use your expensive fabrics first off – genius! Second round I used buttery soft knits and minky from Joann’s, Etsy & Pink Zeppelin Fabrics.
- Joann’s:
Soft N Comfy Dot Fabric
$8.99/yd (buy at store with coupon) - Pink Zeppelin Fabrics:
Kaleidoscope Balloons Cotton Lycra
$25.00/yd + shipping - Etsy’s PeekaBoo Fabric Shop:
Pastel Rainbow Stripe Cotton Lycra knit fabric
$9.99/yd + shipping
Pattern options include collar binding or hood, long sleeve or short sleeve, color-block or plain sleeves, pants or shorts, pockets or no pockets, hem or cuffs – Woah! So many options!
This pattern pdf was surprisingly easy to follow for me as a newbie. š I totally love the step by step photos. They helped me tremendously. I’m also digging the color pages provided to map out your fabric coordination.
Those pockets are adorable, right?! I’m definitely feeling empowered and look how cute O looks? š¶
I’m super proud and excited that my romper made the first page of the pattern. Woot!
Great fabric and pattern.
